Môrwell Talent Solutions is delighted to be recruiting for an exciting opportunity for an Accounts Assistant to join the Newport Finance team on a 12-month fixed-term contract, providing cover for a secondment. The Role
Working as part of a Group Accounting Services team and reporting to the Financial Controller, you will play an important role in supporting the preparation of accurate and timely financial information and helping the wider business meet key reporting deadlines.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Completing weekly and month-end bank reconciliations across a number of accounts, including payments, receipts, deposit and foreign currency accounts.
- Checking and authorising requisitions and unbacked invoices.
- Completing inter-company reconciliations.
- Supporting various revenue streams through sundry invoicing, general ledger postings and recharges.
- Maintaining and reconciling balance sheet control accounts.
- Assisting with Office for National Statistics submissions.
- Liaising with internal and external auditors when required.
- Supporting the wider Finance team with general accounting duties and ensuring key deadlines are met.
- Working collaboratively with colleagues across the wider business to resolve queries and maintain accurate financial records.
About You
We're looking for someone who is keen to learn, organised and genuinely interested in developing their career within finance.
You may already have experience working in an accounts environment, or you could be an AAT student looking for an opportunity to put your studies into practice.
You'll ideally have:
- A recognised accountancy qualification in progress, such as AAT, or a strong desire to continue developing professionally.
- Previous experience within an accounts or finance environment would be advantageous.
- Good computer skills and confidence using Excel.
- Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
- Good organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage your own workload and meet deadlines.
- Clear and confident communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with both financial and non-financial colleagues.
- A practical and solutions-focused approach to problem-solving.
- The ability to work effectively as part of a team while also being comfortable using your own initiative.
- A willingness to learn and develop within a broader finance function.
