    About the role

Môrwell Talent Solutions is recruiting on behalf of a values-based charity in the Vale of Glamorgan who are searching for an experienced Interim Finance & Resources Manager to provide leadership, continuity and stability across finance and business support during a period of organisational review and internal restructuring.

This is a 6-month fixed-term interim position, with the possibility that the role may become permanent following the organisation's restructuring process. However, this is not guaranteed, and any future permanent opportunities will be subject to the outcome of the restructure.

Working as part of the Leadership Team and reporting to the Chief Executive, you will oversee financial management, reporting, controls and compliance, alongside business support, routine HR administration, facilities and office operations.

The organisation is a values-led charity providing specialist support to women and children affected by violence against women, domestic abuse and/or sexual violence. The successful candidate will therefore be expected to demonstrate a strong commitment to the organisation's values, mission and the people it supports.

    Key responsibilities

    • Lead the day-to-day financial management of the organisation, including budgets, management accounts, cash flow and financial reporting.
    • Monitor grants, contracts, restricted funds and other income streams, ensuring accurate financial reporting and identifying risks or variances.
    • Oversee banking, reconciliations, payroll, pensions, year-end processes and audit preparation.
    • Provide clear financial information, forecasts and advice to the Chief Executive, Leadership Team and Board of Trustees.
    • Support funding applications, tenders, contract management and financial planning.
    • Line manage and support the Business Support Officer.
    • Oversee routine office administration, facilities, assets and health and safety requirements.
    • Maintain accurate HR and employment records and support routine people administration.
    • Ensure appropriate financial controls, governance, confidentiality and compliance are maintained.
    • Provide stability and continuity during the organisation's period of review and support an effective handover at the end of the interim period.

    About you

Our client is looking for someone who is confident managing finance in a complex, values-led environment and who can quickly establish themselves within an organisation.

You will ideally have experience within the charity, not-for-profit, public sector or another regulated environment, with a strong understanding of financial controls, reporting and funding requirements.

You will be comfortable working independently, managing competing priorities and providing clear financial information to senior leaders and non-finance colleagues.

Strong Excel skills are essential, alongside experience with accounting software such as Xero or similar.

You will also need to be approachable, collaborative and highly organised, with the ability to build effective working relationships across the organisation.

Most importantly, you will share a genuine commitment to the organisation's mission and values and be motivated by the positive difference its work makes to the people it supports.

    Essential experience and skills

    • Accountancy qualification such as AAT, or equivalent substantial experience.
    • Recent experience preparing management accounts, budgets and cash-flow forecasts.
    • Experience of financial management within a charity, not-for-profit, publicly funded or similarly regulated environment.
    • Experience using Xero or similar accounting software.
    • Experience overseeing payroll and pension arrangements.
    • Experience supporting year-end accounts and external audit or independent examination processes.
    • Experience managing multiple funding streams, grants or contracts.
    • Experience producing financial reports for senior leaders, trustees or non-finance stakeholders.
    • Strong Excel skills and excellent attention to detail.
    • Experience of line management or staff supervision.
    • Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise competing deadlines.
    • Understanding of confidentiality, data protection and good governance.
    • A strong commitment to the values and mission of the organisation.

    Desirable experience

    • Experience working within a charity governed by a Board of Trustees.
    • Experience preparing financial information for funding applications, tenders and contract management.
    • Experience of routine HR administration and employment records.
    • Experience overseeing office facilities and/or health and safety compliance.
    • Understanding of housing-related support, rents or Housing Benefit.
