Senior Finance Assistant

4 or 5 days per week | 1-day WFH per week (after onboarding)
Môrwell Talent Solutions is delighted to be supporting a brilliant Tredegar-based SME to recruit a Senior Finance Assistant, working in a vibrant, friendly, and fast-paced office environment.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced finance professional who enjoys a hands-on role, thrives in an SME setting, and wants to be part of a close-knit team. You’ll report directly to the Finance Director and support the Assistant Accountant across a broad range of finance duties.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with month-end close processes
- Prepare and post journals, including accruals and prepayments
- Conduct balance sheet reconciliations
- Manage intercompany transactions
- Oversee bank reconciliations and monitor bank balances
- Support cashflow reporting
- Prepare and submit VAT returns
- Maintain financial records using Sage 200
- Work collaboratively with the wider team to ensure efficient finance operations
Ideal Candidate:
- AAT Level 4 qualified (or equivalent experience)
- Strong understanding of core finance processes and controls
- Experience in a hands-on finance role within an SME environment
- Confident using Sage 200 (or similar accounting software)
- Proactive, dependable, and adaptable – comfortable rolling your sleeves up
- Driver with access to a car (essential due to rural location)

- Salary up to £30,000 FTE (depending on experience, pro rata if 4 days)
- 4- or 5-day working week – flexible to suit your preferences
- 9:00am – 5:00pm hours with a 1-hour lunch
- 1-day WFH per week (once settled in)
