Temporary Accountant
Location: Bridgend
Contract: 3-month temporary role, with potential extension
Start: Immediate / ASAP
Pay Rate: Up to £26 per hour + holiday pay
Môrwell Talent Solutions is recruiting for a Temporary Accountant to join the finance team of a fast-paced business and provide additional support during a busy period.
The role will have a varied remit, focusing on clearing an existing Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable backlog, supporting the Assistant Financial Controller with month-end activities, and assisting with the implementation of a new ERP system.
This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on accountant who enjoys a varied role, is comfortable working to deadlines and can make an immediate impact within a busy finance function.
Key Responsibilities
Accounts Payable & Accounts Receivable
- Work through and clear outstanding AP and AR backlogs.
- Process and reconcile supplier invoices, payments and customer transactions.
- Investigate and resolve outstanding queries and discrepancies.
- Reconcile supplier and customer accounts.
- Assist with aged debt and outstanding balance reviews.
- Ensure transactions are processed accurately and efficiently.
- Liaise with internal teams, suppliers and customers as required.
Month-End Support
- Assist the Assistant Financial Controller with month-end close activities.
- Prepare and post journals and accruals where required.
- Assist with balance sheet reconciliations.
- Support the preparation of management accounts and month-end reporting.
- Investigate variances and unusual transactions.
- Provide wider accounting support to ensure month-end deadlines are achieved.
ERP Implementation
- Assist with the implementation of the new ERP system.
- Support data cleansing, validation and migration activities.
- Help review and test finance processes within the new system.
- Assist with user acceptance testing and identify any issues.
- Support the finance team through the transition from the existing system to the new ERP.
- Help document processes and provide feedback on system functionality and usability.
- Assist with resolving queries and ensuring finance processes operate effectively following implementation.
About You
The successful candidate will ideally have:
- Previous experience within a hands-on accounting role.
- Strong Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable experience.
- A good understanding of month-end accounting processes.
- Experience with reconciliations, journals, accruals and general ledger activities.
- Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach.
- The ability to work through a backlog efficiently and accurately.
- Good Excel skills and confidence working with finance systems.
- Previous experience of an ERP implementation or finance systems change project would be highly advantageous.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with colleagues across the business.
- A flexible, hands-on approach and the ability to hit the ground running.
